TINEKE POSTMA is a jazz saxophonist from the Netherlands.
She tours with her quartet around the world and released three cd’s. She will record her new cd in February ’09 in New York with Geri Allen, Scott Colley and Terri Lyne Carrington.

Tineke was born in 31-08-1978. She plays alto, soprano and tenorsax. Tineke graduated in 2003 as a Master of Music at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and studied for one year Masters at the Manhatten School of Music. Among others, she played with Dianne Reeves, Nancy Wilson, James Genus, Paul Bollenback, Matt Garrisson, Geri Allen, Esperanza Spalding. She also recorded as a special soloist with the Metropole Orchestra. As a leader she performed four times at the North Sea Jazz Festival, several times at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Java Jazz Festival, Yokohama Jazz Festival, International Glasgow Festival, 12 Points Festival (Ireland), Smalls and the Jazzstandard in New York.

As a sideman, she has been playing at a large number of international jazzfestivals such as the Red Sea Jazz Festival (Terri Lyne Carrington Group) and Carnegie Hall in New York. Tineke released three solo albums, »First Avenue » (2003), « For the Rhythm feat. Terri Lyne Carrington » (2005) and « A Journey that Matters feat. Terri Lyne Carrington » (2007) and one DVD  » Live in Amsterdam ».

Tineke recorded as a sideman for Terri Lyne Carrington’s « More to say Real Life Story: Nextgen, Whispers the Wind (Chris Mc Nulty 2006), Evidence feat. Mike Manieri & Bob Malach (Edoardo Righini 2003). and others.

Tineke was awarded with Langs de Lijn Award (2007), Sisters in Jazz All Star Award (2003),Midem/Victoires du Jazz: International Révelation of the Year (Victoires du Jazz 2006) Tineke studied with Ferdinand Povel, Jasper Blom, Dick Oatts, Chris Potter and David Liebman.
